Many writers, academicians taking part

VISAKHAPATNAM: Friends of Kavana Sarma are organising the 70th birthday celebrations of the noted writer, academician and researcher, at a function to be held at the AU Platinum Jubilee Guest House here on Sept. 27.

The felicitation meeting would be presided over by eminent writer Kalipatnam Rama Rao with AU Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana as chief guest. Many academicians and eminent writers are participating in the function, a noted dermatologist and an organiser of the function G. Raghurama Rao said.

Dr. K.V.N. Sarma, popular in the literary circles as Kavana Sarma, has written six novels, about 100 short stories, four dramas, many essays and articles on different subjects. He received awards from Andhra University, Sri Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University and the Jyesta Literary Trust. On the academic side, Dr. Sarma held high positions in many engineering colleges and retired as professor of Water Resource Engineering from Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore. He has more than 50 scientific papers to his credit, which were published in the national and international journals. His Ph.D. thesis on “study of scour phenomenon and its functional forms” was evaluated and examined by Prof. Hans Albert Einstein, son of Albert Einstein.
