VISAKHAPATNAM: ''I grew up listening to the songs of the legendary singers Ghantasala, P. Suseela and P.B. Srinivas.

They were confined to south India and I had a dream of crossing the language barrier,'' said the singing sensation Karunya, who was adjudged Indian Idol 2 in the competitions organised by Sony TV.

He was in the city to perform at the musical nite being organised at the Gurajada Kalakshetram on Thursday evening.

`No' to aping

Addressing a media conference on Wednesday, he said that though he loved the playback singers of yesteryear and was found of singing their songs, he was against aping their voice.

He expressed his desire to perform all over the State.

M. Victor of Victory Event Makers said that apart from songs by Karunya, songs by the finalist of MAA TV's `Paadalani undi' Hazart, dance sequences by Hot Steppers and ventriloquism by Botta Nageswara Rao (Donald Duck) would form part of the show.
