SHGs procure over 2,38,628 tonnes of paddy through 184 IKP centres
KARIMNAGAR: The Karimnagar district, which has attained a distinction in the State with a record paddy production of 2.5 lakh tonnes during this rabi season, has set another milestone by procuring a record paddy from the farmers through Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP) centres.
The women self-help group members have procured over 2,38,628 tonnes of paddy through 184 IKP centres in various parts of the district.
The IKP centres are still procuring the paddy from farmers and the target is likely to reach 2.5 lakh tonnes this season.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Friday, Collector Sandeep Kumar Sultania said that the women SHG members had earned a commission of Rs. 4.5 crore during this season by procuring the farmers’ produce.
He said that during the last rabi season, the IKP centres had procured around Rs. 1.99 lakh tonnes of paddy and this season it was likely to reach 2.5 lakh tonnes.
In order to remove child labourer and ensure that all children above five years were in the schools, the administration had decided to launch ‘Badi baata’ programme from June 12 to 27 in the district.
He said that they would involve SHG members, NGOs, public representatives and others to ensure cent per cent enrolment of children into schools.
He said that they would also conduct mass ‘aksharabhyasam’ on June 18 as part of the programme by involving all elected representatives. He called upon people to inform the administration by alerting the control room if they noticed any child working or was out of school in the district.
