Agriculture Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana on Wednesday said he would take the inordinate delay in completion of the K.L. Rao Sagar (Pulichintala) project to the Chief Minister’s notice and try to get it expedited. He attributed the delay to the alleged negligence of contractors who did not stick to schedules.
In a brief interaction with media persons here, Mr. Lakshminarayana said the project should have been completed in two years after the foundation stone was laid in 2004.
The Pulichintala project is one of the first ones taken up under the prestigious ‘Jalayagnam.’
Meanwhile, former Minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad, who heads the political JAC that was constituted to mount pressure on the government for speeding up the project, told media persons in Tenali that it would take at least another year for completion. But, the government cheated farmers by stating that the project would be completed by June 30 this year.
The JAC members, who visited the project site on May 7, found that the facts were at total variance with the reports submitted by officials.
