AP State Cultural Council also announces ‘Rangasthala Puraskaralu' to two artistes

AP State Cultural Council (APSCC) has announced ‘Kandukuri Visistha Puraskaralu' to seven theatre artistes and ‘Rangasthala Puraskaralu' to two artistes from the State.

The theatre personalities will be presented with the awards on Monday at Ravindra Bharathi, APSCC Chairman R.V. Ramanamurthy said at a press conference here on Saturday.

Minister for Tourism and Culture, Vatti Vasant Kumar, will present the awards to the winners.

The “Kandukuri Visistha Puraskaralu – 2012' will be given out to S.K. Misro from Visakhapatnam, Gandavaram Subbarami Reddy from Hyderabad, Nayudu Gopi from Guntur, K. Rajyam from Tanuku, B. Hymavati from Hyderabad, B.C. Krishna from Kurnool and Khajipet Tirumalaiyya from Warangal.

Awardees

The ‘Rangasthala Puraskaram' will be given to actors Ravi Kondal Rao and Surabhi Jamunarayulu.

“To give fillip to theatre arts, State government has declared Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu's birthday, April 16, as ‘Telugu Nataka Dinotsavam' and the awards will be given away to commemorate the day,” Mr. Ramanamurthy said.

The function is being organised in association with State Department of Culture, AP Film TV and Theatre Development Corporation and Potti Sriramulu Telugu University.

Mr. Ramanamurthy also said that the first modern Telugu play ‘Vyavahara Dharma Bodhini,' written by Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu, will be performed at the function.

“The play will depict the conditions, costumes and theatre traditions followed by the artists of those times,” he said.

Five stage artistes

to be honoured

Five prominent stage artistes of the district, Pullabhatla Venkatarama Sarma (Suryapet), Chakrapani Godavardhan, Goli Yellaiah (Nalgonda), Dharmuri Venkateshwarlu (Vepala Singaram) and Boyinapalli Bhujang Rao (Miryalaguda), will be honoured on April 16 to mark the 'Telugu Natakaranga Dinotavam' organised by the State Government.

It coincides with the birthday of Kandukuri Veereshalingam.

The function will be held at Town Hall at 6 p.m.
