Rajahmundry: Noted Telugu story writer Kalipatnam Rama Rao and Gunnies Book record holder Mridanga Vidwan Yella Venkateswara Rao are going to be honoured with ‘Sri Lakshmi Sarvaraya Sahiti Puraskaram’ and ‘Srimati Bulusu Ramalakshmamma Lalitakala Puraskaram’ respectively.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Tuesday, former Union Minister and Sarvaraya Trust Chairman SBPBK Satyanarayana said these awards were constituted in 1992 during the birth centenary of his father Sarvarayudu and giving away every year to eminent personality in cultural and literary world.
He said cultural award was given in the past to Nataraja Ramakrishna, Sobha Naidu, Korada Narasimha Rao, Padmasri Vedantam Satyanarayana Sarma, Peesapati Narasimha Murty, Sobharaju, Rao Balasarswati Devi and Anjali Devi. The literary award was given in the past to Madhunapantuala Satyanarayana Sastry, Mallampalli Sarabheswara Sarma, C. Narayana Reddy, Kottapalli Veerabhadra Rao, Ravuri Bharadwaja, Balantrapu Rajanikantha Rao, Salaka Raghunatha Sarma and others.
Patiwada Suryanarayana, literary personality, who was also present at the press conference, said this year the awards would be presented at a function to be held on May 2 at Kapileswarapuram.
Panchayat Raj minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy will be the chief guest at the programme.
