District Collector V. Anil Kumar directed Kadapa Municipal Corporation officials to explore the scope to deploy modern devices that would automatically switch off street lights all over Kadapa in one stroke at sunrise, besides the scope for solar lighting.

Addressing a meeting with officials in the municipal corporation office, he wanted more capacitors fitted to use electricity and take into account timers and SMS modes. He told officials to prepare a report.

Drinking water schemes

The Collector directed officials to provide uninterrupted power for drinking water schemes.

He wanted infrastructure development works displayed on notice boards. Proposals of road works needed to be immediately prepared depending on fund availability, he said.

Mr. Anil Kumar suggested conduct of meetings in slum areas to create awareness among people on sanitation. Banners and pamphlets should be used to spread the message among people to keep their surroundings clean.

He wanted notice boards to put up in detail the names of 900 sanitary workers in their respective ward offices. Uniforms, gloves and other accessories should be given to sanitary and electricity workers, he said.

The Collector sought proposals for replacement of worn-out water pipelines in phases based on fund availability.

He wanted water shortage mitigated expeditiously in RIMS Hospital. He wanted water transported at old rates until fresh tenders were called for.
