VISAKHAPATNAM: The ‘felicitation number’ (abhinandana sanchika) of Padma Bhushan P. Suseela, who enthralled music lovers in South India with her mellifluous melodies for several decades, will be released at a felicitation function at the Kala Bharathi auditorium in Pithapuram Colony on Sunday. The book, containing details of nearly 200 songs (solos, duets) and ‘slokas’ rendered by Ms. Suseela and 60 rare photographs connected with various aspects of her life will be released by president of Lok Nayak Foundation Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad.
The function will be followed by a music concert in which a dozen promising singers from Visakhapatnam, some of whom had already won prizes in competitions organized by TV channels and other organizations, would sing popular songs of Ms. Suseela in various films.
Organised by Jyeshta Literary Trust, the function will be presided over by president of the Visakha Music Academy A. Prasanna Kumar.
Noted short story writer and Kendra Sahitya Academy awardee ‘Bharaago’ (Bhamidipati Rama Gopalam), trustee, Visakha Music and Dance Academy, S. Vijaya Kumar, Naada Vidya Bharathi Nedunuri Krishna Murthy and others will participate. The function is scheduled to commence at 6 p.m.
