HYDERABAD: The TDP and the BJP have demanded a judicial inquiry into allegations of corruption levelled against Panchayat Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy by Small Scale Industries Minister G. Surya Rao, while the Lok Satta party wanted the truth to be made public.
At a press conference here on Sunday, senior TDP leader P. Chandrasekhar demanded Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to order the judicial probe by a sitting judge of the High Court. He urged him to drop Mr. Diwakar Reddy from the Cabinet if he accepted the charges or else to remove Mr. Surya Rao if he was not accepting them.
At a separate press conference, BJP MLA G. Kishan Reddy too made a similar demand and urged the Governor, N.D.Tiwari, and President Pratibha Patil to intervene as it was a “serious matter”. Mr. Reddy also demanded the removal of Mr. Diwakar Reddy from the Cabinet. Lok Satta leaders, K. Srinivasa Rao and Krishna Reddy wanted to know if Dr. Reddy would respond as per rules on this issue since he always claimed that his government was law-abiding.
