The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) has decided to allow students with 40 per cent attendance and above to appear for the semester examinations beginning in December first week.
A committee constituted by the JNTUH suggested that students with 40 per cent and above can be permitted for the exams and submitted its report to the Vice-Chancellor, Rameshwar Rao on Monday. The committee was constituted after receiving several representations from students and parents requesting the administration to give some concession in attendance as they failed to attend classes in view of the Telangana agitation.
A senior official of the university said that the committee apparently considered the lack of transport facility during the general strike and also the fear factor among parents in sending their children to colleges.
Moreover, academic atmosphere was not conducive in the last one year forcing students to stay out of colleges.
