The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will review the status of implementation of ongoing projects in the State funded by it.

JICA has extended a total assistance of about Rs.24,865 crore to the State, the largest recipient of the agency’s assistance in the country. The projects financed by JICA include the Rural High Voltage Distribution System, Irrigation and Livelihood Improvement, Hussainsagar lake and catchment area improvement, Outer Ring Road and the Visakhapatnam Port Expansion.

The agency had also extended its assistance in strengthening the IIT campus in scholarships, campus development and joint research projects with Japanese universities. A delegation of JICA India headed by deputy chief representative Tomohide Ichiguchi along with five other senior officials arrived in the city on Wednesday, according to a press release.

The four-day review includes site visits and interaction with State Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty and Finance Department Principal Secretary Pushpa Subrahmanyam.
