Krishna district Joint Collector P. Usha Kumari on Thursday discussed with police and revenue officers about clearing of pending cases booked under SC and ST Atrocities Act.

In a review meeting held here, the Joint Collector enquired about investigation, filing charge sheets, vacating stay in some cases, with MLC Jelly Wilson, Krishna district Superintendent of Police J. Prabhakara Rao, RDOs, DSPs and Public Prosecutors.

Ms. Usha Kumari directed the Revenue Divisional Officers to give instructions to Tehsildars to issue caste certificates to the victims who filed cases under the Act. She asked the RDOs to solve the bonded labour cases in their purview.

The police explained that 11 cases were pending in Kanchikacherla police station limits in the last three years and 14 atrocity cases were pending under G. Konduru police station limits.

SC and ST District Committee member Jelly Wilson said the stay granted by High Court was obstructing in investigation of atrocity cases, and justice was not being done to the victims.

The officers explained that the resolution passed in the previous meeting on stay, was sent to the state committee.
