HYDERABAD: Ponnala Lakshmaiah took over charge as Major & Medium Irrigation Minister on Wednesday, with the promise of realising the goals set for ‘Jalayagnam’.
He said he would go ahead with a four-point strategy to achieve the objectives. Firstly, priority would be given to complete those projects under which partial benefits were already ensured. Efforts would be made to get Central funds under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme for the projects which the State wanted to be taken up as national projects. Similarly, funds would also be obtained from the Prime Minister’s package and Bharat Nirman.
Lastly, steps would be taken to get Central clearances to the Jalayagnam projects as part of the strategy.
