The stage is set for the entry of former Sattupalli MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao, son of former Chief Minister Jalagam Vengal Rao, into the YSR Congress on November 19.

Mr Venkat Rao, who was expelled from the Congress party for contesting the elections from Khammam Assembly constituency as an independent candidate in 2009, is now poised to join the YSRCP in the presence of the party honorary president Y S Vijayamma at a public meeting slated to be held at the Pavilion Grounds here on Monday.

Speaking to media persons in the town on Saturday, Mr Venkat Rao said Ms Vijayamma would address the public meeting on Monday evening. “I have chosen the Pavilion Grounds for my entry into the YSRC as my father addressed his last public meeting in the same grounds,” he said adding that his father had left an indelible impact on the people of the State and Khammam district in particular by virtue of his effective governance. “The most-sought after irrigation schemes initiated by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy in the district had failed to make much headway as was evident from the snail’s pace progress of the well-intended projects,” he said in reply to a query.
