Says he will quit if Congress does not bag ZP seat in East Godavari

Rajahmundry: Minister for Roads and Buildings Jakkampudi Ramamohana Rao has reiterated his challenge that he will resign if the Congress fails to get the Zilla Parishad seat in East Godavari. He has expressed confidence that his party is going to get 58 MPTCs out of 59 in the district with the support of CPI.

Addressing a press conference at his residence, the Minister said CPI had asked for three ZPTC and 20 MPTC seats in the district. However, the Congress was ready to give one ZPTC and seven MPTC seats.

He came down on CPI (M) leader B.V. Raghavulu for criticising every policy of the Government, which was aimed at the welfare of the poor and downtrodden.

Open invitation

"Raghavulu was fond of sitting on the `Cycle' (TDP symbol) from the beginning. Now, he got an open invitation from the later," he lashed out.He said that if the CPI (M) was going to keep away from the Congress it should resign those MLA seats that were won with the support of the Congress and contest for them again. He took exception to BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya's statement and said that the BJP would be wiped out from the State after the panchayat polls.
