VIJAYAWADA: Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh will be visiting Hyderabad and Guntur districts on Friday and Saturday to participate in a string of development activities.

Arriving in Hyderabad on Friday, Mr. Ramesh will take part, along with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, in a videoconference with District Collectors and district teams of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA). He will later interact with labourers working under the employment guarantee scheme in Kothapalli village of Yacharam mandal.

He will reach Guntur in the early hours of Saturday in a train, and leave for Bhattiprolu to visit the Buddha stupa. Back in Guntur at 11 a.m., Mr. Ramesh will lay the foundation stone for Quality Evaluation Laboratory of the Spices Board at the Agriculture Market Committee.

In the afternoon, the Minister will reach Nadendla, where he will inaugurate the chilli polyhouse and drier and also attend the distribution of silpaulin and polythene sheets to farmers. He is also scheduled to inaugurate a protected water supply scheme in the village.

After lunch at the Tobacco Board office in Guntur, Mr. Ramesh will leave for Mangalagiri, where he will interact with weavers. He will leave for Hyderabad the same evening by road.
