Jagannatha Hill would get a facelift soon with the support from government, non-government and spiritual organisations. Collector Ramsankar Naik interacted with the members of Rupala Sangameswara temple and Jagannatha Hill Development Committee here and discussed various proposals.
From the government's side, the Collector decided to post watchmen to the area to protect land, structures and keep at bay encroachers. A parallel road would be constructed to the Sangameswara temple to reduce the pressure on the existing road. Water supply system would be strengthened by sinking new bore-wells. The open areas on the hill would be used for raising green cover involving the Department of Social Forestry.
The temple committee decided to raise an amount of Rs. 10 lakh from the MPLADS to construct a dormitory type structure on the hill and construct Astalakshmi temple with Rs. 10 lakh donated by MLA T.G. Venkatesh.
A giant ‘nandi' statue would be put up with the support from real estate developer K.J. Reddy.
The Collector agreed in principle to earmark 8 acre land for ‘cow pen' on the hill. Statues were planned along the avenue with support from donors. Committee president Nagireddy, secretary Narapa Reddy and Joint Secretary K. Kistanna and others were present.
