The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Telugu Desam colluded with the Congress and bifurcated the State, said YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy here on Saturday.

Addressing a massive gathering at the party’s election campaign ‘YSR Janabheri’ at Leela Mahal circle here on Saturday, Mr. Jagan said that leaders, who supported the division of State, neglected the sentiments and emotions of Seemandhra people.

“Our efforts to voice the problems of people fell on deaf ears and the people’s dream of a developed State is now shattered due to bifurcation,” he said, referring to his campaign from the district like ‘Samaikya Shankaravam’ and yatra from Kuppam to Srikakulam.

Mr. Jagan criticised the Congress and BJP for claiming their involvement in State bifurcation and termed it as a feat to garner votes in the upcoming elections. “How can they ask for votes now, after all that they have done to the people of the State?,” he questioned. Flaying TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s statements on latter’s achievements during his nine-year regime, Mr. Jagan alleged that it was Mr. Naidu who advised his MPs to vote for bifurcation in the Parliament. “In public he criticised the Bill saying that there were no proper provisions, but he conspired with the Congress to pass the Bill,” he maintained. Promising an honest and trustworthy government under the leadership of YSRC, Mr. Jagan said that only their party has the right to ask for votes from people, as they have stuck to their stand for a unified Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy cut short his speech owing to a sore throat much to the disappointment of his supporters and party cadres. Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, former Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Leaders Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, R.K. Roja took part.
