Former Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy will take up a day-long ‘Jana Deeksha' dharna on the Beach Road in Visakhapatnam on January 22 protesting against steep hike in petrol price.
The frequent hike in petrol and diesel prices was having a cascading impact on the prices of essential goods taking them beyond the reach of commonman, Mr. Jagan said speaking a largely-attended public meeting here on Tuesday as part of his of his ‘Odarpu Yatra' in Visakhapatnam district. People cheered the former MP lustily as soon as he arrived at the venue two-and-a-half hours behind schedule and showered flower petals and shouted slogans of ‘Jagan Anna Jindabad' and ‘YSR Amar Rahe'.
The Lakshya Deeksha at Vijayawada and Jala Deeksha at New Delhi against injustice in allocation of Krishna waters to Andhra Pradesh were a warning to the Centre and if the government did not bother about bringing down the fuel prices also, it would face the consequences, he said.
