NIZAMABAD: Nizamabad district on Wednesday was rocked with agitations by supporters of separate Telangana in protest against the alleged comments of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in Parliament on Telangana, and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and PR president Chiranjeevi’s volte-face on the issue.

They burnt the effigies of Mr. Naidu and TDP MLA M. Venkateswar Rao at Koratpally and Jaganmohan Reddy on Telangana University campus. Activists of Telugu Nadu Students Federation, the student wing of TDP, staged a rasta roko condemning Jagan’s comments.

A number of villagers of Biknoor mandal blocked the National Highway-7 at BTS Chowrasta affecting the movement of vehicular traffic for a while. Former Minister and Banswada MLA P. Srinivas Reddy (TDP) who was stranded in the traffic also took part in the agitation raised “Jai Telangana” slogans, according to information reaching here.

The Multi System Operators stopped the telecasting of what they called the pro-Andhra news channels.

Accusing the pro-Andhra news channels of insulting KCR and the sentiments of people in Telangana, the MSOs’ Telangana leader Kuldeep Sahani announced that the cable operators decided to stop such channels if they failed to strike the balance.
