The new Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) that started functioning at Begumpet from Monday has come as a big relief to passport seekers. No crowding, no queues and hassle free transaction. It was a real surprise for many who have experienced the mad rush at the Passport office in Secunderabad.

About 400 persons turned at the PSK on the first day. They included both fresh applicants as well as those trying to carry out corrections and changes in their existing passports.

Two other PSKs at Ameerpet and Tolichowki are expected to start functioning in next few days. The delay is due to the training being given to the staff, it is said.

Sarika Chander of Charminar who came for renewal of her husband's passport was very happy at the smooth functioning of the PSK. “It is much better than the Secunderabad office,” she said.

The same sentiments were conveyed by Umair Ahmed of Bandlaguda. An officer of the Tata Consultancy was present to clarify doubts and guide the applicants. A common complaint was the difficulty in logging in on to the passport office website for online application.

The official informed the applicants to log on to the new website and not the old one.
