In view of several bifurcation proposals doing the rounds, especially the Rayala-Telangana option, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cadres in the city flayed the Congress for indirectly linking their political gains to the bifurcation issue.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the party’s official spokesperson, G. Bhanu Prakash Reddy opined that the GoM was complicating the bifurcation process by floating different proposals on how to divide the State. “They say that a new State will be formed with Kurnool and Anantapur districts merged with Telangana. Without an ounce of clarity, they have turned the entire State into a fire-pit,” he added.
Referring to Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao’s statements about Rayalseema people, BJP’s city president K. Ajay Kumar said that he (VHR) should tender an apology for calling them ‘unruly folk’. “As a leader, he should not make insulting statements and hurt the sentiments of people,” he added. The leaders demanded an immediate revocation of Rayala-Telangana option
The student wing of Rayalaseema Parirakshna Samithi led by Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy staged a demonstration here on Wednesday protesting against the Rayala-Telangana proposal.
The student leaders said no Rayalaseema person wanted to align with Telangana but the Centre was clubbing the two districts with Telangana despite opposition from both sides.
