The Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Bhadrachalam, Project Officer, Praveen Kumar on Tuesday suspended the physical education teacher (PET) of the Government Tribal Welfare Residential High School for boys at Tulasipaka in Chintur mandal.

Mr Praveen Kumar made a surprise inspection of the residential school along with the officials on Tuesday afternoon. The inmates poured out their woes before the project officer and narrated their miserable plight due to the alleged lethargic functioning of the staff concerned. Responding to the complaints lodged by the students, Mr Praveen Kumar inspected the attendance register of the staff and noticed the ‘unauthorized absence' of the PET Anand Rao. Mr Praveen ordered the suspension of the PET after the inmates told him that the teacher was a ‘habitual absentee'. The inmates also complained that they were being denied buttermilk and bananas as per the menu by the staff at the residential school.

Mr Praveen further asked the officials accompanying him to issue a show-cause notice to the Assistant Tribal Welfare Officer concerned for his explanation on the absenteeism of the staff and lack of proper monitoring of the functioning of the school.

He directed the staff to return the poor quality of rice to the Girijan Cooperative Society and bring quality rice to the school immediately. He warned the staff of stern action if they failed to provide quality food as per the menu to the inmates.

He inspected the functioning of reverse osmosis water plant and called upon the inmates to make use of the facility.
