HYDERABAD: Dejected over his failure to find a job in the recession-affected software industry, a post-graduate in computer applications ended his life at Punjagutta on Wednesday.
Twenty-three-year-old Arun Kumar Reddy from Madanapalle of Chittoor district came to city in search of a job seven months ago. He checked into Tirumala lodge on Monday. The lodge workers grew suspicious as he did not come out of the room since Tuesday evening and broke open the door only to find his decomposed body hanging from the ceiling.
A suicide note purportedly written by the youngster stated that the recession that engulfed the economy, especially the software industry, denied him a job. “I tried in vain to secure a placement for the past seven months and lost the mental courage to continue the job search,” he said in the note.
The youth also prayed that at least in the next life the almighty would give him the mental courage to withstand such challenging situations and requested his parents to forgive him. Reddy joined the Royal Men’s Hostel in Yellareddyguda after coming to Hyderabad. He was sharing a room with three more unemployed youngsters.
“The note suggests that he was depressed over not finding a job and the all-pervading recession seems to have further demoralised him,” the Punjagutta Inspector, Malla Reddy, told reporters.
