President of Nalgonda district Panchayat Raj Engineers’ Association, K. Shyam Sundar, on Thursday demanded that the elections to the State organisation held in Warangal on December 2 be declared invalid in view of irregularities in the voting.

Mr. Shyam Sunder, who was a candidate for the post of president, alleged that as against the registered number of voters, i.e., 726, as many as 681 votes had been polled whereas 708 ballots were found.

There was a discrepancy, as the votes polled by himself (95), Bhoomanna (382) and A. Srinivas (220) totalled 697 votes.

He claimed that 162 Rural Water Supply department employees, who were not eligible, had voted in favour of Bhoomanna, who was the winner. Besides, the two candidates did not display their ID cards and sign in the register.
