With a view to inculcate a sense of ownership of the local bodies in the development works being taken up by VUDA in their area VUDA Vice Chairman Dr. Yuvaraj instructed the officials to take their consent and involve them in the projects.

This would enable the local bodies to know about the development programmes within their area and also make them accountable for the upkeep of the works, he said while inspecting the various proposals and schemes taken up by VUDA in Bheemunipatnam municipality jurisdiction on Thursday.

Noting the lack of proper consents and approvals from the local bodies in earmarking and allotting sites for public oriented developments, he instructed VUDA Chief Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao to evolve a permanent system to obtain copies of resolutions from the local bodies in VUDA area for all the works initiated under the regional development.

During his visit, the Vice Chairman inspected the land allocated for development of an Indoor Stadium at Bheemili and felt that it was far from the town and suggested to the Municipal Commissioner of Bheemili to identify alternative land nearby or within the town limits for the purpose.

Later, he visited Chittivalasa and Kummaripalem layouts developed by VUDA and examined the basic infrastructure provided there.

After inspecting the VUDA Guest House in Bheemili town, Dr. Yuvaraj said a decision would be taken on its improvement after a comprehensive study on its utility.

The Vice Chairman also visited the road widening works at Kommadi, taken up with a cost of Rs.8 crore, and directed the engineers to maintain standards. Issues pending with the GVMC for completing the road-widening from NH-5 to Surya Printing Press, with a stretch of 1.7 kilometres will be settled soon, he said.

VUDA Executive Engineers D.V. Verma, N.V.S. Prasada Murthy, Deputy Executive Engineers Devi Prasad Patro, Shyam Sunder, B.R. Ch. Naidu and and municipal commissioner of Bheemili Ram Mohan Rao were present.
