ATM cash custodian, accomplice arrested; Rs. 26,74,600 recovered
The Nalgonda Two Town Police on Thursday solved the sensational ICICI Bank ATM theft case within two days and recovered Rs.26,74,600 of the Rs.26,90,900 after arresting two persons, including ATM cash custodian Anaganti Ramalinga Swamy (23), who knew the process of opening it.
Superintendent of Police Navin Gulati, who produced Swamy and his friend, Vuyyala Mallesh, both belonging to Urumadla village of Chityal mandal, said the duo committed the theft to meet their lavish lifestyle.
As planned, on the night of November 12, Swamy opened the ATM machine door with a key, which he claimed was lost about 15 days ago, and typed the password, known to him.
While Mallesh kept guard on his motorcycle, he lifted four cash cassettes containing cash, kept them in a bag and fled to Urumadla.
Swamy hid the cash in his house, after throwing the cassettes in an old agricultural well.
The SP praised the good work done by CI T. Manohar Reddy, SIs K. Srinivas and Md. Masiuddin, besides their staff.
