Innovation should be the driving force, inspiring students of engineering to scale greater heights, Aeronautical Development Agency Director D. Seetharama Raju said here on Saturday.

Addressing a national-level student symposium ‘Anusodhana-2013’, held on the premises of Acharya Nagarjuna University here, Dr. Raju shared his experiences while working with the team of innovators who designed the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) — Tejas.

Hailing the development of the LCA as a landmark in the history of aeronautical development in the country, he said that the LCA was the smallest and lightest fighter of its class in the world and listed among the five world hot spots in innovation and technology identified by the popular U.S. magazine Week .

ANU Vice-Chancellor K.V. Rao said the university had been striving to inculcate a spirit of innovation. The university has an Entrepreneur Cell, Research and Development Cell, and Placement Cell.

Earlier, convener of ‘Anusodhana’ P.V. Ramana Rao moderated the technical quiz and paper presentations.

Dean of ANU Engineering College P. Siddhaiah and college principal E. Sreenivasa Reddy spoke.
