VISAKHAPATNAM: The sixth Central pay commission, which submitted its report recently to the Centre, had done injustice to the railway workers by providing meagre 27 per cent hike in their emoluments though the latter operate as many as 16,000 trains a day throughout the country which carry 1.60 crore passengers.

General Secretary of the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen - NFIR (railway workers wing of Congress’ trade union body INTUC) M. Raghavaiah told media persons here on Thursday that in some cases the actual hike was just 19 per cent. Of the 14,22,000 employees working in the Group C and D category 5 lakh technical staff were the worst affected as their plight had not been taken up.
