To tie up with business schools

To guide students in projects

HYDERABAD: An industry-academic collaboration programme was announced by Cygnus business consulting and research, a global knowledge services organisation on Monday.

The company’s director O.R.S. Rao said Cygnus, headquartered in the city, would be tying up with business schools to conduct “hands-on career-oriented workshops” for their students in key functional areas of marketing and finance.

Except for the top 20 B-schools, most of the others just impart knowledge but not skills to equip them for their jobs,” he said. This programme, he felt would be a win-win for everybody.

“It will help B-Schools in branding themselves while providing students an opportunity to polish their theoretical skills.” The companies, on the other hand, would be benefited by well trained industry-ready students saving them the trouble of having to expend their resources in training new recruits, Mr. Rao said.

At the three to four-week workshops, senior managers of the company would guide students in project handling, application of theoretical knowledge in key-functional areas, business research tools like information search and analysing data gathered.

Based on the feedback we have received, companies are satisfied with students trained by us, Mr. Rao said adding the company would focus on business schools in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore this year.

The company had imparted similar workshops last year in ICFAI Business Schools at various locations in India and at Siva Sivani Institute of Management in the city.
