VPT future bright'
Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman Ajeya Kallam after unfurling the flag at the Diamond Jubilee Stadium said the VPT had a bright future as it was gearing up with modernisation and mechanisation to face the challenges of increasing global trade. He stressed the need for timely completion of the capacity addition projects. He later felicitated the stevedores who were instrumental in achieving records in cargo handling. He also presented awards and citations to employees for their meritorious service.
HPCL-Visakh Refinery Executive Director P.A.B. Raju hoisted the flag and took the guard of honour of CISF & Territorial Army of Visakh Refinery.
In his message, he said, “we are going through a difficult phase as global economy seems to be headed for another downturn.”

HSL CMD Rear Admiral N.K. Mishra said the yard was set to create history by delivering a 53,000 DWT bulker to a Chennai-based company by month-end after delivering a 50-tonne tug and an IPV Rani Abbakka respectively to VPT and Coast Guard a few days ago. He said in view of present status of the yard, the workforce should make concerted effort for a turnaround.
D.K. Mohanty, CMD of DCI, unfurled the flag and said DCI was the lifeline of the country's foreign trade by creating and maintaining shipping channels for the safe passage of vessels in and out of the ports and one should be doubly proud to be working in such a premier organisation, which was looking after the dredging needs of the whole nation.
At BHPV, company's MD A.S. Nagaraja said the momentum of modernisation would pick up during coming months and it would be completed by March 2013. He said current year performance up to December 31 had put before them a very stiff target for last quarter and asked everyone to improve quality.
NTPC Simhadri Super Thermal Power Project celebrated the 63rd Republic Day with zeal and patriotic fervour. General Manager in-charge of Simhadri D.K. Sood unfurled the flag and inspected the colourful march past presented by CISF Jawans and students of Bal Bharti School.
