An industrialist committed suicide by consuming poison at his house in Malakpet on Sunday night.
Police said V. Rambabu, 58, was the owner of a furniture shop at Dilsukhnagar. He was also the general secretary of Dilsukhnagar Traders Association.
He went into his room around 4 p.m.
A couple of hours later, the family members knocked the door but he failed to respond to their calls.
Sensing something suspicious, they broke open the door and found him in an unconscious state.
On rushing him to a nearby corporate hospital, doctors declared him brought dead.
“We have not received any complaint from the family members,” said ACP (Malakpet) Mohammed Iqbal Siddiqui.
Police inquiries revealed that Rambabu was in a state of depression for the past few days due to family problems. His daughter's engagement was held with a Telugu film actor last month but it was cancelled abruptly, sources said.
“We can establish the exact reasons behind Rambabu's drastic step only after getting the complaint from the family members,” the ACP said.
