VIJAYAWADA: Several industrial and automobile sector related associations on Wednesday lent their support to the ongoing movement for unified Andhra Pradesh, but appealed to the agitators to continue their stir in a peaceful manner without causing any damage to industrial and trade establishments.
Representatives of Krishna Industrial and Agricultural Exhibition Society, Auto Technicians Association, A.P. Small Industries Association, J.R.D. Tata Industrial Estate Association and Vijayawada Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association said at a press conference that strikes, road blockades and stopping of trains were causing several problems to the people in general. Students were losing precious academic days, while those participating in the agitation could have problems in future in view of the booking of cases against them, they said. Vijayawada Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association president B.V.S.T. Sai felt that the people’s sympathy could begin to wane if strikes and road blockades continued for long.
Krishna Industrial and Agricultural Exhibition Society president G.V. Rama Rao said the blame game among leaders should be stopped. Another representative of an association felt that it would make things easier for the industries and workers if the organisations calling for bandh informed them a day before.
