Says FAPCCI chairperson at the inauguration of ‘Colosseum’

“India has a once in a millennium opportunity to emerge as one of the strongest economies. The opportunity comes because of the advantage of its lower economic base, demographic strength and globalization,” said Devendra Surana, Chairperson of FAPCCI and Director of Surana Ventures Limited.

Mr. Devendra Surana participated as chief guest at the inauguration of Colosseum 2013, the national level management-cultural fest of Hyderabad Business School (HBS), a constituent of GITAM University, Hyderabad.

Tracing the evolution of the international emphasis from political power to financial strength to knowledge economy, Mr. Surana captured the imagination of the audience through the mythological symbols of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati.

Contrasting the growth of successful Indian entrepreneurs like Tatas, Ambanis, N.R. Narayana Murthy and Laxmi Mittal, Mr. Surana observed that the speed of growth of enterprises has enormously increased as the typical product life cycle has drastically reduced.

Earlier in the day, he formally inaugurated the fest by releasing the video on Colosseum made by the students of HBS.

Sri R.K. Gupta, Chairman of ICSI-SIRC, in his address remarked that the population and knowledge level of youth in India is a unique asset to India in its journey to the top position in the world economies.

He advised the students in the audience to treat the organising of such events as a learning experience.

Prof. S.S. Prasada Rao, Dean, Hyderabad Business School, D.V.V.S.R. Varma, Resident Director, GITAM University, Hyderabad, and Prof. Basavaraja, Vice Principal, School of Technology, also spoke.

Conceived for Colosseum 2013 are formal events like Sambandha, Bulls & Bears, Nishadya, Young Managers, B-Plan, Article Writing, B-Quiz, Scrolla and Craftazova, and informal events like Photography, Face Painting, Song Dedication, and Treasure Hunt.
