The Indian Overseas Bank opened two branches and two ATMs in the Visakhapatnam region as part of its platinum jubilee celebrations on Thursday. Nation-wide, the bank opened 75 branches and an equal number of ATMs. Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee did the honours in New Delhi.

According to IOB Chief Regional Manager A. Muthukumar here, the new branches came up in Payakaraopeta in Visakhapatnam district and Veerabhadrapuram in West Godavari district. The new ATMs were at Balagathopu in Srikakulam district and Ramapuram in Visakhapatnam district.

“All the 46 branches in our region are conducting various programmes in a fitting manner for the platinum jubilee year 1937-2012. In order to help underprivileged people and, as part of inclusive banking, fruits and sweets were distributed in orphanages and leprosy hospitals by us in Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Eluru, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and other places. Some of our branches also organised blood donation camps on the occasion,” he said.
