District Collector conducts review meeting

Admonishes DEs and AEs who have failed to achieve even 20 per cent of targets

At another meeting, he asks officials to create work under NREGS

VISAKHAPATNAM: District Collector J. Syamala Rao on Thursday directed General Manager of AP Housing Board Krishna Prasad to conduct a full-scale inquiry into the functioning of Divisional Engineers and Assistant Engineers who had not shown improvement in their work.

He was reviewing the progress of work on Indiramma houses and wanted the engineers to improve their performance.

He admonished DEs and AEs who had failed to achieve even 20 per cent of their targets. CEO in-charge of Zilla Praja Parishad S. Satya Sai Srinivas and other officials were also present.

At another meeting held on drought situation in the district, Mr. Syamala Rao asked the officials to create work under the NREGS at the gram panchayat level in the mandals declared drought-hit. There should not be a gap between two works, he said.

A review meeting would be held on drought situation on every Wednesday afternoon, the Collector said.

Joint Collector in-charge S. Satyanarayana, ITDA Project Officer Anand Mohan, District Revenue Officer D. Venkata Reddy, DUMA PD D. Srinivasan and other officials attended.

Supply of essentials

Joint Collector in-charge S. Satyanarayana told the Civil Supplies officials to ensure that there were no irregularities in supply of essential commodities. He wanted the officials to be strict regarding irregularities like adulteration, wrong weighing, use of chemicals in the cultivation of vegetables and fruits, during a meeting of the district-level Food Advisory Committee.
