KARIMNAGAR: A Singareni Collieries Company Limited employee working as fitter in the OCP-2 in the Ramagundam region T Shravan Kumar and his wife Krishna Kumari have pledged their bodies after death to the Chalimeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences in Karimnagar town.

Voluntary organisation

Shravan Kumar along with his colleagues constituted a voluntary organisation called Sadashaya Foundation to create awareness about the importance of donation of eyes, organs and body after death. Accordingly, the foundation conducted a meeting at Eight incline colony in Godavarikhani under the leadership of SCCL RG-II general manager G Rajendra Prasad, DGP (personnel) Murthy and others.

The institute’s Head of Anatomy department N Jayashree, hospital superintendent Ramireddy and other doctors of Rekurthi Eye Hospital also participated in the programme. Mangala, wife of Ashok Kumar, whose body was donated to KIMS, Warangal after death also participated.

Speakers have educated the SCCL employees about the importance of donating the eyes, organs and body after death and help others. About 25 people have pledged their eyes after the death on the occasion.
