A photo exhibition was organised by the Rajahmundry Press Club on the eve of World Photography Day here on Saturday. The club also felicitated the photographers who brought laurels to Rajahmundry by winning three prizes at the State-level competitions.
Inaugurating the exhibition, Revenue Divisional Officer M. Venugopala Reddy said news photos speak thousands of expressions and convey meanings than set of words in news. Lieutenant Murthy Jasti, who was the chief guest of the function, said photographers expose the positive and negative angles in society and their proficiency is always rewarded when they take good photographs. He announced Rs.1,000 cash prize to one Mr. Ramakrishna who has taken a picture that depicted lifestyle of a poor family.
V. Sanker, president of Press Club, announced cash prizes G. Prasad of Sakshi , Ramakrishna of Andhra Prabha, and Krishna of The New Indian Express .
The Press Club also felicitated the State-level award winners S. Rambabu of The Hindu , S. Patnaik of Eenadu and T. Veerabhagavan of Sakshi .
