The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) State president S. Veeraiah has accused the government of not taking responsibility in implementing minimum wages for beedi workers after the G.O was issued relating to the tri-partite agreement reached among workers, beedi manufacturers and government, a few months ago.

Expressing concern at the government's silence over the violation of Acts by the beedi manufacturers he said that it was adopting double standards while unleashing terror on workers and agitators.

He threatened to intensify agitation if it failed to initiate steps.

Mr. Veeraiah was taking part in the dharna staged by the beedi workers affiliated to the CITU before the Revenue Divisional Office, here on Friday.
