Illegal explosives seized, 2 held

Officials of the Commissioner’s Task Force (South), on Wednesday arrested two persons on charges of storing and trading of illegal explosives and seized huge quantity of gelatine sticks and detonators from them.

The duo, V. Yadaiah, 41, from IS Sadan and G. Mallaiah, 44, from Karmanghat, were arrested at Dabeerpura while they were trying to sell the material, said Additional DCP Task Force, B. Limba Reddy here on Wednesday.

Supplier absconding

The police recovered 250 detonators and 400 gelatine sticks from them. The supplier, Srinivas, is absconding and efforts are being made to apprehend him, the official said.

Mr. Reddy said possession and sale of the explosives sans licence is banned under the Explosive Subst-ances Act. The arrested persons were handed over the Dabeerpura police station for further investigation.
