Dredging Corporation official to open the event

Valedictory will be held at Ukkunagaram on April 29Discussion on supply chain management on cards

VISAKHAPATNAM: The local branch of Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM) will celebrate materials management week from Sunday.

During the weeklong programmes, it has been decided to highlight on the theme of IIMM for this year "Emerging paradigms in supply chain management."

It will be inaugurated by Purushothaman Sridharan, General Manager (technical), Dredging Corporation of India.

Group discussion

Y. Sivasagar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, will be the chief guest at the valedictory to be held at Ukkunagaram on April 29.

A group discussion among IIMM students on supply chain management will be held on April 25 at ICWA Bhavan followed by a discussion among IIMM members on the same topic on April 27 at the same venue.

The second programme will be coordinated by M.N. Prasad, General Manager, LG Polymers.

Diploma courses

IIMM branch chairman I. Bala Raju, honorary secretary S. Prabhakara Rao and national council member B. Durga Rao told reporters on Thursday that the institute was conducting classes for diploma and post-graduate courses in supply chain management, inventory management, quality assurance and logistic control at ICWA Bhavan.

Mr. Bala Raju who works as Controller of Ware Housing in the Eastern Naval Command, said graduate and post-graduate diploma courses were offered on subjects like stores management, public procurement, logistic and inventory management.

He said the IIMM which was started in 1953, at present had 150 members and 56 student-members in the city. The two-year graduate diploma in materials management was the most sought-after course, he added.
