Inspector General of Police A. B. Venkateswar Rao made a rare gesture by calling on retired DSP P. Ramaswamy here at his residence in Hanamkonda.

Mr. Ramaswamy has been ailing for quite some time and was amazed at the surprise visit of his superior.

Mr. Venkateswar Rao said that the ailing officer worked with him as circle inspector during his tenure as superintendent of police at Khammam district some time ago. Mr. Rao recalled the times and described Mr. Ramaswamy as committed and disciplined officer.

“It is our duty to look after the welfare of the families of police officers and I have pleasure in calling on even the retired personnel,” he told the newsmen.

The IG was accompanied by the Urban SP A. Venkateswar Rao, DSPs Ravi Kumar and Sharat Babu and others.
