An Integrated Clothing Management System (ICMS) for the Indian Navy was launched by Chief of Staff of Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba at the Base Logistics Office here on Friday.

The software would significantly enhance efficiency by ensuring accurate forecasting of demands, inventory control and assist in decision making through Total Asset Visibility (TAV) and accountability. It would also empower the sailors, wherein every sailor would have a personal login and can view and generate his requirements online from a remote location.

Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Lanba said that a quality clothing management system is vital for the well-being of the troops and the effectiveness of a combat unit and the need for the same had existed all along.

He expressed satisfaction at the implementation of ICMS.

The system networked navy wide and would be exploited across the country. Executed by the Base Logistics Officer under the aegis of the Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command, the software for the ICMS was developed by Net Savant, Visakhapatnam.
