Senior IAS officer T. Radha on Wednesday was left fuming as he found his name along with that of his wife and son missing from the voters list.

Mr. Radha in a complaint to the EC said that he was permanent resident of Prashashan Nagar, Jubilee Hills, and he found his name and that of his wife R. Pankajam and son R. Kameswaran missing from the voters list in polling station number 153 of Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency located in office of Sericulture commissioner.

The senior bureaucrat said he had cast the vote in 2009 elections. “Deletion of our votes by the Electoral Registration Officer without notice, enquiry and opportunity is unjust. I am taking legal advice to seek compensation from the said ERO as per law,” Mr. Radha reasoned.

He said: “When my residential address remained the same, why the names were deleted? Is it not the responsibility of GHMC to inform me before deleting our names? Why should a citizen check his name in the list when he did not change his residence?” Dr. Radha said that he did not verify his name in the voters' list as he did not assume that his and his family members’ names would be deleted without any notice as he had been living in the same address since 2006.Is it not duty of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporaton authorities to inform voters on what basis their names were deleted. It only exposed the problem in the system and it should be set right. “I am raising the issue on behalf of all citizens.” he said. The Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal said they repeatedly urged voters to check the voters'list in advance to avoid such lapses.
