The three-day annual competition of humorous playlets organised by Sumadhura Kalaniketan and Sumadhura Kalaparishad will begin at Tummalapallivari Kshetrayya Kalakshetram on Friday.
Sumadhura Kalaparishad chairman N. Murali Krishna told a press conference on Wednesday that eight playlets were selected from the 42 scrutinised by a panel of judges. The Jandhyala memorial award for this year would be conferred on popular film actor L. B. Sriram on the concluding day of the competition (Sunday).
On the inaugural day, three playlets – ‘Hi tekku city' (Matrusri Kalaniketan, Vizag) at 6 p.m., ‘Anthaa Bhranthiyena' (Sri Ganesh Art Theatres, Guntur) at 8 p.m. and ‘Rendu Kotlu' (Sri Sai Art Theatres, Vijayawada) at 9.15 p.m. – will be staged. Veteran stage artiste K. Indira will be felicitated on the first day. On the second day (Saturday), ‘Pee, Pee, Pee, Dhum, Dhum, Dhum' (Nityasatya Arts, Guntupalli) at 5.05 p.m., ‘Paapam Prasadam' (Sri Vamsi Niranjan Kalakendram, Hyderabad) at 6.20 p.m. and ‘Devude Dikku' (Bahurupa Nata Samakhya, Vizag) at 8.30 p.m. will be staged. On (Sunday), Vizag Humour Club will perform comedy skits, followed by a musical programme.
In the evening, ‘Don't Worry, Be Happy' (Sri Krishna Telugu Theatre, New Delhi) at 4 p.m., ‘Gooba Guyyimandhi' (Malladi Creations, Hyderabad) at 5 p.m., ‘Chitthaginchandi' (The Amateur Dramatic Association, Chilakaluripeta) at 6.15 p.m. and an exhibition playlet ‘Pelli chesi Choopistham' by actor Raavi Kondala Rao at 7.30 p.m. will be staged.
