‘Murali completed expansion of HPCL Visakh Refinery in record time’

VISAKHAPATNAM: HPCL Director (refineries) K. Murali was conferred with the prestigious CSMCRI CHEMCON distinguished Speaker award at the 62nd annual session of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IICh.E) CHEMCON 2009 here on Sunday.

The award was presented to him by IIChE president Sushil Kumar. He was one among 15 eminent persons who received the award for 2009.

Mr. Murali was selected for the award by for significant contribution to the growth of refinery complexes and excellent managerial techniques in handling wide range of refinery problems that led to the success.

A press release issued by HPCL said Mr. Murali had completed the expansion of HPCL Visakh Refinery by three million tonnes per annum in record time and the DHDS project. He has improved the capacity of HPCL Mumbai Refinery by 20 per cent through low cost modifications and has brought down the operating cost by 10 per cent. He is the key person in initiation and drawing up the blueprint for HPCL’s R&D centre coming up at Bangalore, leveraging the expertise of retired directors in this field for creating world class facilities.
