The Congress Legislature Party has questioned Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MLAs as to how they could attend the winter session of the A.P. Legislative Assembly after strongly opposing the participation of Ministers in the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebrations and other official functions. At a press conference here on Wednesday, Chief Whip Malli Bhatti Vikramarka, whips – S.Sailajanath and K.Murali Mohan – wondered on what basis TRS MLAs could sit in the House when they have no faith in the State government.

Deriding people

“If their protest against Congress Ministers attending official functions is anti-Telangana, their presence in the winter session will also amount to the same,” Mr. Vikramarka remarked. “By performing your duties as Legislators in the Assembly, are you not deriding the people of the region, who joined your protest against Ministers,” he said.

They denounced the TRS MLA T.Harish Rao's justification of attack on the residence of Minister J. Geetha Reddy. “Instead of apologising for the insult shown to a dalit leader, the very fact that the TRS MLA is justifying the attack is unfortunate,” they added.

Humiliation

At another press conference former Minister M. Mareppa came down heavily on Mr. Harish Rao, wondering whether Dalit leaders deserved such humiliation. “Is Dr. Geetha Reddy not from Telangana region? Why should the TRS single out the Dalit leader and heap insults on her,” he observed.
