The East Zone police arrested Time Hospital Managing Director M. Hemanth for allegedly submitting false documents relating to a case to Aarogyasri Health Care Trust. The accused was produced in court on Wednesday, said Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Shaik Shakeela Bhanu.
A patient, K. Durga Prasad, who met with an accident, was admitted to Time Hospital located at Ashok Nagar, in Vijayawada, a few days ago. The patient was eligible for availing free treatment under Aarogyasri Scheme. The hospital management, however, reportedly treated the case as non-Aarogyasri case and collected medical expenses from the patient’s family.
The hospital authorities allegedly created false documents (with the signature of patient’s mother) stating that treatment was provided to Durga Prasad free of cost under the scheme and tried to draw the amount from the government.
Aarogyasri Krishna district co-ordinator K. Sudhakar, who smelt a rat, conducted an enquiry. During investigation, it was found that Time Hospital management submitted fake documents in Durga Prasad’s case and tried to dupe the government.
Following a complaint lodged by Dr. Sudhakar, the Penamaluru police registered a case and arrested the accused, said the ACP. Cases were registered against the accused under Section 120 (b) of IPC (criminal conspiracy), Section 420 of IPC (cheating) and others, said Ms. Bhanu.
