Padma Shri awardee Dr. G. Muniratnam, General Secretary of Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS), Tirupati, has been nominated to the executive committee of Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB) for a period of three years by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
The CSWB provides grants-in-aid to the Mahila mandals and NGOs in the country through State Social Welfare Boards (SSWB) for the implementation of crèche centres, family counselling centres, women empowerment activities, awareness generation, condensed courses etc. with an annual allocation of Rs.500 crore.
Apart from Dr. Muniratnam, the panel will have former Member of Parliament Dr. Prema Cariappa as its chairperson, besides representatives of seven Ministries and chairpersons of five SSWBs.
