HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has said that Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s statement on December 23 as “unclear and inadequate” and it would not help resolve the ongoing political crisis in the State.

Appreciating the Centre for realising the need for wider consultations, CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu, however, said absence of mention of specific timeframe or mechanism for holding the consultations would not help restore confidence on either side. The Centre should, therefore, clarify the modalities it was proposing to achieve consensus among all the stakeholders involved in the issue.

In a statement, Mr. Raghavulu expressed concern over the provocative remarks being made by a section of leaders and appealed to them not to instigate violence in the name of regionalism.
